This very meticulously evidenced report into the views of Richard Stallman founder of GNU and creator of Emacs wasn't easy reading. It is a serious-minded attempt to deal with the complex legacies of one of the foundational people in open source and to make them accountable in a measured way. It feels like it must have been a lot of effort to put it together.

That might mean leaders or members leaving communities to create a new consensus but this kind of work forces consideration of what should change.
