Scalingo

Scalingo is a European-based PaaS service that seems functionally identical to Heroku.

It seems relatively easy to use and uses the same "push to Git remote" deployment method as Heroku where buildpacks are used to turn the source code into a deployable.

Although easy to use you pay for the resources assigned rather than consumed so it is not a great model for hobby projects that 99.99% idle. This makes it expensive compared to pay as you go serverless models.

I'm not sure I have a great personal project that fits this model currently (it is why I migrated off of Heroku in the first place) so I'm not going to be spending that much more time with Scalingo until I do.

It is good to know it exists though and is the kind of thing that European companies should be building to provide alternatives to US Cloud providers.
