I decided to try to upgrade yesterday without thinking too much about who far along we with maturity cycles of the new LTS release.
I was horrified to have the white screen of death when I rebooted, something that hasn't happened in a long time.
Fortunately the console terminal (Ctrl-Fn-Alt-F2) was still working and the following commands sorted me out and resumed the upgrade and got me working again.
sudo apt -f install
sudo apt upgrade
I'm writing this on 24.04 but the irony is that I wasn't really that bothered by the features of the new update and probably would have been fine on the previous version which I'd only just upgraded to.
